About

Coming Together/Coming Apart is a history podcast about national independence, liberation, and disintegration. I will take a deep and honest look at why countries form and the ways in which they break down. First up, a history of the Korean War.

This project is born from a desire to understand some of the background behind modern politics and to remember some of the "forgotten" conflicts in recent history. In the future, I'll cover conflicts all around the world, including post-Soviet disorder, African decolonization, West Asian disunity, and other periods of political instability and unification. If there's something you'd like to learn more about, let me know and we can have a chat!

I (Trevor Owens, your host) have two degrees from Indiana University: a BS in international relations and a Masters in public affairs. My research interests include socio-economic stratification, American local government, unemployment-induced violence, and corporate subsidization. My personal interests include food science, motorsport, basketball, and that specific niche of comedy involving people that need to discuss something serious but don't want to and end up falling into a ridiculous situation that helps them work out their issue, like Game Night, Booksmart, or The Lovebirds.
